N/Delta youths laud Bichi’s appointment as DSS boss
The Niger Delta Ambassadors have commended the appointment of Yusuf Bichi as Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS).
Convener of the group, Inatimi Jonathan Angolo, told journalists yesterday in Abuja that the appointment of the head of DSS is the exclusive right of the President, which should be seen as unbiased and void of political, religious or tribal sentiments.
He said the primary duty of the DSS chief is to protect the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as it relates to national security, and wondered why people would make ‘unguarded’ statements to heat up the polity.
“It is also the exclusive right of the president to choose whoever he knows is competent to manage the nation’s security as the director general of DSS. We should not sacrifice national security on the altar of sentiments, tribe or religion. It is beyond an individual,” the group said.
Angolo berated the position of Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, who frowned at the appointment of Bichi i, saying “the important question is whether or not Bichi has the required intelligence competence.”
