Ladies Connect Initiative, a registered Non-Governmental Organisation based in Abeokuta, Ogun State . The Initiative is established purposely for the protection of the girls and women rights and their overall empowerment based has carried out a sensitization to widows at Ori Iyanrin, Abeokuta South metropolis of Ogun state yesterday.
They sensitized the women on personal hygiene and cleanliness especially in containing the global pandemic known as COVID-19.
They group also took time to sensitize women on the need to report cases of sexual violence or assault to the appropriate authority.
The widows were given food stuffs like rice, tomato paste, salt and maggi, among others
While the children were given milk and noddles. The gesture was done to cushion the hard biting effect of the lock down declared by the government.
Over 60 women and children were beneficiaries of the program.
It was great moment as the Ogun State television were on ground to capture the moment.
The founder and President of the Initiative, Adebola Tolulope Adeoti, a lawyer and social right activist, urged the Ogun State government and the Ministry of Women Affairs to see to the empowerment of women, widows, and young. She also calls for the support of Ogun State government in form grants so as to execute their lofty projects.
She charged other NGOs to emulate the gesture especially at this critical time because the government cannot do it all.
